Community Quilt

Come by the Kennebunk Free Library and check out our quilt on display! The students and teachers at School Around Us, along with community teachers, Marylyn Wentworth and Deb Eaton, recently completed this lovely quilt. The students learned about the history of quilting including it’s functional beginnings, the kinship and connections created by the makers, how quilts supported social and political issues, and finally, how quilts became a form of artistry and expression rather than a duty performed by women.
