Announcing the Grand Opening of our new nature classroom, a yurt!  This circular, free-standing building is the home-base of our new nature-based enrichment program for children ages 4-12, the School Around Us Stream Catchers.

Stream Catchers classes are designed to widen your child’s understanding of self and the natural world around them. Through nature-immersed experiences, Stream Catchers students’ creativity, curiosity, and imagination will be unlocked into the raw, natural order of life beyond the walls of home and school.

Sign your child up for our five-week spring session! Let’s get to know some of the wild creatures, herbs, and plant life that make their first appearances in the Spring. Using nature journals that we will make ourselves, we will investigate the first amphibians to begin croaking, the first green shoots to begin pushing up through the ground, and the first bird songs that sing of the new life that is opening itself around us. We’ll explore where these animals have spent their winter months, how they make and tend their woodland homes, and what yummy edibles they will seek to regain their strength. Through observation and nature immersion, we’ll practice skills of animal tracking and outdoor safety and awareness. If building human-sized bird nests, prancing quietly as a fox through the woods, and nibbling on wild greens sound like a fun adventure, join us!
