Being an SAU Parent or Guardian

Why are there family commitments at SAU?

  • To support our mission

  • To create a culture and community that is equipped and motivated to participate in and embody our values: thriving relationships, transparency, authenticity, engagement and inclusivity.

  • To support our organization in key functions.

  • To provide a structure within which / through which our community members engage in the community.

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use of and participation in SAU’s online communication platforms

  • Participation in 1:1 Meetings with an SAU educator, parent/guardian, and child (Full-Time Only)

    • These include three scheduled parent/educator meetings per year including the Homeschool Portfolio Review (approx 60 minutes each), and additional opportunities for parents/guardians to engage with educators throughout the year.

    • Available to part-time families at an additional cost.

  • In addition, there are planned and spontaneous activities throughout the year for families to engage with the community such as field trips, celebrations, performances, etc. Parents are encouraged to attend these gatherings and events and get involved in SAU activities according to their interests and talents.
